Solid Start for Team Richards In Bahrain

By Brad Jones Racing

Team BOC had a solid start to the Desert 400 weekend recording the 12th fastest time in today’s practice session at the Bahrain International Circuit. Initially the Team BOC Commodore suffered from a lack of rear grip and struggled to get the power down out of the corners. The crew made some adjustments improving the cars handling. Richards set his time of 2:07.19 on used tyres, choosing to save a set of new tyres for tomorrows qualifying.

Brad Jones, Co-Owner Quote & Objectives:
“I think Jason Richards really made some progress in the two practice sessions he had today. They started a far way behind the eight ball but they made some huge steps. They didn’t run on greens so it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow when they bob up. I’m feeling right now like they’ve definitely got a top ten car.”

Jason Richards, Team BOC #8:
V8 Supercar Championship Race Starts:122
“It’s very hard to tell how we’re going to go but the early signs show we spent most the time on one set of tyres inside the top ten in those last couple of sessions and only got passed by 5 or 6 guys who put tyres on which means that we might be in with a shot. Everyone’s cars would be struggling alittle, it’s a low grip circuit and is entirely different to the Yas Marina circuit. This weekend is all about keeping the rear tyres alive and we’re doing our best to minimise the wheel spin and hopefully that will make for a better race car. It’s a fact that this track just doesn’t suit our tyres, but the extension of the track is awesome and I think it will create some more passing opportunities.”
