Team BOC surged back with vengeance today with a top 10 result in Race Four of the V8 Supercar Championship at the Bahrain International Circuit. Following a strong 8th fastest qualifying run earlier this afternoon, the combination of slick pit stops from the Team BOC crew and an inspired drive from Jason Richards produced a wonderful team effort and allowed Richards to finish the 37 lap journey in 8th spot. Awesome race pace saw Richards one of nine cars under the existing race lap record. The top 10 result is a breakthrough result for Richards who has struggled for pace on low grip circuits like the Bahrain layout.
Brad Jones, Co-Owner Quote & Objectives: “A wonderful result for the Team BOC today. Wally and Matthew worked hard last night and improved the cars set up enormously. Great drive from Jason, particularly here at Bahrain where he has struggled the past few years. His pace was good and when it mattered he drove intelligently. I think he has got his head around the new car now. I can’t wait to get to Adelaide.”
Jason Richards, Team BOC :# 8 V8 Supercar Championship Race Starts:122 Qualified : 8th Finished : 8th “We obviously improved the car massively overnight which was a great job by the engineering group. We had a big rethink on what we were doing and now we’re competitive in that top 5-10 group. I got a good start and boys produced good pit stops and that netted a good result. Our aim is to finish here for the rest of the year, we learnt a lot this week, it’s a low grip surface and we’ve always struggled here. I thought it was a great comeback and now we hope we can be competitive on the other low grip tracks .”
