Bahrain Top 20 For Richards

Team BOC struggled in both qualifying and the first race of the Desert
400 weekend here at Bahrain International Circuit this afternoon.
Driver Jason Richards had earlier failed to put a competitive lap
together in the qualifying session and had to start from 22nd
position. After a slow start, Richards got caught up in the first turn
bottle neck and lost further spots. The Team BOC Commodore pushed on
and following the stop on lap 23 for 4 tyres, the cars handling
improved in the later stages of the race finishing just inside the top
20 in 19th position.

Brad Jones, Co-Owner
Quote & Objectives:

“Jason seemed to get caught up in a melee at the start, his start
didn’t seem too bad but ended up down the field after the first lap
which was unfortunate for him. He ran in such a way that he had really
good tyres on for the last stint, he was coming through the field but
seemed to be using his tyres up trying to get past. A top 20 from
where he started is a good result but with a better qualifying I think
they can get into the top 15 tomorrow.”

Jason Richards, Team BOC #8:
V8 Supercar Championship Race Starts:122
Qualified: 22nd Finished 19th

“Qualifying was real disappointment. I thought we were going to be a
lot better than where we were. At the start of the race I had to avoid
a couple of accident that happened right in front of me, that’s what
happens when you start at the back and lost a few spots. We were able
to get back thanks to a good strategy but it’s disappointing, During
the race on newer tyres, I ran with the no 1 car who had so much more
pace than us on his used tyres. It’s quite concerning for the
championship.”
